Merrychef Partners with Subway

The story so far ...
In 2004, Subway franchises nationwide introduced a new line of “fresh toasted” submarine sandwiches to help create a broader, more competitive menu and increase market share among quick service restaurants.

This initiative was so successful within the Subway global estate that toasted sandwiches now account for over 60% of total sandwiches sold.

The challenge ...

In 2007, the Merrychef 402s was introduced to the Subway system and an agreement was made for Merrychef to be the second source oven for this highly successful toasting program. To be accepted as a second source oven, Merrychef and Subway initiated a 25 store global field test to validate instore performance, ease of use, oven reliability and service support on a global scale. The trial was a success and Merrychef gained approval for use in the Subway system.
